Your character: Full name: Aiden Joshua Scott Age: 22 Birthday: February 4, 1986 Occupation: Waiter. Location: New York City.
Literary Character: Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy from Pride and Prejudice Ability: He can't help but be exceptionally proud. Any perceived slight or insult is enough to get a reaction from him, and he will do anything to keep from asking for help or admitting he has a problem. Link to source: Here.
Personality: Most people would label him an asshole simply because he's very bluntly honest. Honesty is the best policy, right? And if people ask for the truth, then he'll give it to them. It's not his fault if they take offense to hearing it. In his mind, that's their problem; they shouldn't ask for the truth in the first place if they're not prepared to deal with it.
He can seem a bit abrasive at times if you find him in a bad mood. If he gets angry or upset about something, he closes himself off and gets rather short and dismissive with people, which can make him come across as a bit of a jerk on occasion. He doesn't intend to seem mean, but he throws up his defenses rather than letting himself openly display negative emotions.
He's clever in his own right. He's not a genius but any means, but he's much smarter than he gives himself credit for. He possesses more common sense than book smarts, but he's always gotten by just fine despite the fact that he's never been the academic type.
He's incredibly independent and self-reliant. He dislikes having to accept help from others, and there's nothing he hates more than people pitying him or viewing him as some sort of charity case. He'll do anything in his power to keep from having to rely on anyone else for anything. In fact, he'd rather go without and keep his mouth shut about it than admit to needing help. In his mind, if he needs something, he'll figure out some way to take care of it himself.
He's got a good work ethic. Having to save up and work for everything he's needed his entire life means he's not afraid to work hard and put his nose to the grindstone to get something done. To be honest, he sometimes takes that too far though. He has a bad habit of taking on too many tasks and working himself to the point of exhaustion.
Despite all that, he's genuinely a pretty good guy, even if he doesn't always show it. He enjoys any chance he gets to just spend time with friends and laugh, even going so far as to have his moments of random silliness with people he trusts enough. He's typically very even-tempered and laidback, which makes his fairly easy to get along with. And on top of that, he’s one of the most doggedly loyal and protective people you will ever meet. It might take a good while, but once you earn his trust, he’ll support you or defend you no matter what. On the other end of the spectrum, if you betray his trust, it’s gone for good; it takes a long time for him to trust a person, so if they prove he was wrong to trust them, it’s pointless to try to win that trust back.
History: Aiden Scott's arrival into the world was far from auspicious. He was born in a small hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, to young, unwed parents, Joshua Simms and Connie Scott. Things went rather smoothly for the first four months of Aiden's life. The family wasn't very well off, falling firmly in the lower class bracket, but they had everything they needed and they were content. However, after those four months, Joshua's restless side got the better of him and he decided the domestic life wasn't for him. A significant other and a kid hadn't been part of the plan. So he took off, simple as that. After a particularly heated argument with Connie, he packed his things and disappeared without a backward glance. This put an overwhelming amount of strain on the newly single mother, but she was a very proud young woman, so she was determined not to move back to her parents' home. So, Connie started working even longer hours at a diner in town, while Aiden stayed with a neighborhood who had a child close to his age. Aside from playing with the child of the people who babysat him, Aiden was left to his own devices for the most part. If he wasn't staying at a neighbor's house, he was at his house by himself or wandering around the neighborhood in search of something to do. That never bothered him much, though. After all, with an absent father and a dismissive mother, he learned very quickly how to fend for himself. No one was going to look out for him? Fine, he'd take care of himself.
School didn't prove to be much of an improvement for the boy. He was fairly bright, but wholly disinterested in most of his classes. On top of that, Aiden developed something of a behavioral problem, as his teachers like to put it, where his classmates were concerned. Several boys in his class made a habit of teasing Aiden about everything from his hand-me-down cloths to his absent father, and while Aiden might have been smaller and outnumbered, his pride would never let him take such teasing. So, Connie was called to the school on numerous occasions after Aiden got in fights with the boys, and Aiden always went home with a new black eye or a busted lip after such encounters with the boys.
Such behavior continued throughout high school, because the more Aiden resisted, the more the boys seemed intent on picking on him. Since most of those confrontations ended in a fight, people began passing it off as the result of a bad upbringing on Aiden's part. So, without intending to do so, he ended up being labeled as one of the unsavory neighborhood kids, the kid who spelled trouble, the kid who should be avoided.
On some level, Connie had always blamed Aiden for the fact that his father left. As he grew up, Aiden reminded her more and more of his father. It was far from an idyllic homelife, but because of this perception of her son, she had very little to do with him as he got older. During his senior year of high school, a group of his classmates wer insulting one of Aiden's friends, and when Aiden stepped in to defend his friend, it escalated into a fight. Nothing out of the ordinary for Aiden, right? But this fight was the final straw for Connie, and she kicked him out of the house. Aiden moved in with a friend for the last few months of high school, but after graduation, he withdrew all of his money from savings and took off.
Eventually, he ended up in New York City. He got a small, rundown apartment with the little money he had left and found a job working as a waiter at a nearby restaurant. For a while, he worked on saving up money for college, but that endeavor was quickly abandoned. What college was going to want him anyway? No, college wasn't for him, he decided. College was for kids a lot smarter than him, so why bother? Besides, he had enough on his plate trying to earn enough money for rent and other living expenses without worrying about saving for college.

The irony is not lost on me in any way, shape, or form. I do not want my neighbor to wake me up before she go goes, thank you very much. I want to sleep. Geez.
